I tried to make this an art-only blog but things turned out differently.
What happend? TUMBLR HAPPEND!
I’m still going to post my artwork and comics, so the people who are following me for that, don’t worry you’ll still get to see that. I just comes along with loads of stuff that I reblog because it fascinates me or because I like it. I’m not the only “artist” who does that over here so deal with it.
If you don’t wan’t anything of my posts that are unrelated to art I suggest you either follow me on Facebook or on the portfolio site Behance (both under the nickname ObeyTheKiwi).
It’s a bit silly though, 2 months ago or so I deleted most of my posts that are unrelated to my art. I hoped to clean up my blog so it would be “art only”. I guess I might as well put all those posts back.
What can you expect from me to post?
Well looking at what I’ve posted so far I guess, my art, my sketches, my comics, my illustrations, Art, history, everything related to comics and illustration, animals, dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures, fashion, culture, nature and beautiful pictures.
So mostly everything that fascinates and inspires me.
Aaah modern day problems…
I hated working on this comic so much! I’m happy it’s finally done.
Made this with a classmate (Willem Vanhuyse). We wrote the story together, he drew the pages and I colored them.
Polina by Bastien Vivès
I always find this style of work appealing - it’s loose and gestural, yet it’s still well composed and clear. You can understand what the figures are doing in each panel with what appears to be a hastily drawn line. The ink looks like it was just thrown at the page, like each panel was drawn in an instant. But, each panel holds together. It doesn’t feel like the arrangement of the figures is sloppy, or that the negative space is awkward.
I don’t read or speak French, so I don’t really know what happens in the story, but this is a book I like to look at from time to time.
I agree with all of the above. We discussed this book in art class and my classmates and I overall like it. The only thing that we dislike a bit is the coloring. Why? Well my english isn’t good enough to explain it but for the people who speak dutch: De grijs/beige steunkleur is wel een goede keuze en past bij de tekeningen maar deze lijkt regelmatig heel slordig en zonder nadenken aangebracht. Het is alsof Bastien Vivès dacht “ik moet iets extra toevoegen aan mijn tekeningen, laat ik er snel wat kleur aan toevoegen”
And I didn’t read the book but if I’m correct, it is about a girl who loves to dance and her unhealthy relationship with her ballet teacher.

GROW DINOSAURS
We literally have an entire trilogy of movies that explain why that is a bad idea.
And Godzilla
